Quick Facts & Must-Knows
Constanta is a pretty unique city in Romania – it is the country’s biggest port and only large city located on the coast of the Black Sea. It has an amazing weather year-round, and it offers a perfect mix of old world charm, seaside fun, and modern amenities and developments.
The best part about the city is that it’s a lot more than just a summer destination – it’s perfect for long-term living, it has plenty of opportunities and, due to its location, it’s a huge expat hub – probably the most diverse in the country after Bucharest.
As one of Europe’s oldest cities, Constanta has Greek history, Turkish influences, gritty harbor life, wide sandy beaches, and everything in between. It is a city you might not fall in love with instantly (I didn’t), but with which you will fall in love gradually and irremediably (I did).
No matter if you’re after a seaside holiday, looking to party in nearby Mamaia, looking for some culture and old-town feels or thinking of moving for that daily sea breeze (vitamin Sea, as it’s called), Constanta is perfect. So let’s see what I had to say about it!
Things to do & see in and around the city
It’s true, most of the fun in Constanta takes place during the summer, when you have plenty of free events (almost every weekend has one), but there’s something to see and do at any time. Here are the main articles you should check out to learn everything about what’s on offer:

- Beach Please Music Festival in nearby Costinesti
Where to stay in Constanta
Constanta has every type of accommodation: hotels with sea views, affordable guesthouses, modern apartments, and some hidden gems close to the city center or right on the beach. Here’s what I recommend in terms of the best areas in the city:
